Bird Watching

Brazoria County, Texas is a wonderful destination for the avid bird watcher.  Quintana Neotropical Bird Sanctuary is a hot spot that has become a favorite for many local and not so local birders.  The woodlot is a mix of yaupon, sugar hackbberry. live oak, huishache, and red mulberry.  The local bird club has recorded 306 species.  Some of the rate sightings, include Yellow-green Vireo, Black Rail, Long-eared Owl, Western Wood-Pewee, Lazuli Bunting and hermit warbler.  Forty species of warbles can be seen along with many vireos, orioles and flycatchers.  The multi-level observation tower allows for viewing shore and water birds on the beach as well.  To request a birding map, email
